A few things to do in Berry…

Nestled on the New South Wales South Coast, Berry is known for its lush landscapes, vibrant community, and rich historical tapestry. This guide delves into some of the best things to see and do in Berry, including the must-visit spots and recommendations to help you get the most out of your trip to this beautiful region.

1. Historic Berry Village

A stroll through Berry’s historic village is a journey back in time. The town’s heritage buildings, dating back to the 19th century, house an array of boutique shops, cafes, and galleries. The Berry Museum is a must-visit for history enthusiasts, offering insights into the town’s past with its well-preserved exhibits.  To discover more about Berry’s rich past, why not try the Berry’s Historic Walking Trail.

2. Berry Markets

Held on the first Sunday of every month, the Berry Markets are a bustling hub of activity. Visitors can browse through stalls offering local produce, handcrafted goods, and unique souvenirs. The markets are a fantastic way to experience the local culture and support regional artisans.
Missed the 1st Sunday – don’t stress. There is also a weekly Farmers Market packed with fresh local produce, ready-made meals, flowers, breads, cheeses and more. Held every Thursday at Berry Bowling Club 2-5pm.
Plus, Berry Village Market – A new monthly market launched just this year and gaining incredible momentum. Set in the shady grounds of the Berry Bowling Club, Berry Village Market offers 80 stalls, delicious street foods and live music. Held on the fourth Sunday of each month. 10am – 3pm.

3. Seven Mile Beach

A short drive from Berry, Seven Mile Beach is a stunning stretch of coastline perfect for a day of relaxation. Whether it’s swimming, surfing, or simply soaking up the sun, this beach offers a serene escape and with a whole seven miles of sand – you’re sure to find your own private corner for a walk, a relax or just to breathe!

4. Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk

For those seeking a bit of adventure, the Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk is exhilarating. This elevated walkway through the treetops offers panoramic views of the rainforest and the coastline. The more daring can try the zipline tour for a thrilling ride above the forest floor.

5. Wineries and Gourmet Delights

Berry is almost literally surrounded by fertile farmland and vineyards, making it a paradise for food and wine lovers. Visit local wineries such as Silos Estate and Two Figs Winery for a taste of the region’s finest wines or delve into the sustainability efforts of many of our Vignerons with a visit to either Silos Estate or Mountain Ridge Winery. Both gorgeous wineries are well known for their commitment to sustainability, great food, stunning wines and stellar hospitality.

If it’s gourmet delights you’re after visit one of Berry’s fantastic cafe’s and restaurants, where you can enjoy fresh, locally-sourced cuisine. The Garden has a beautiful outdoor space for year round enjoyment and features a spectacular seasonal menu, or pop into Queen Street Cafe for the Kings Breakfast or The Most Delicious High Tea! If its something a little more local in flavour, Pickled Ink Kitchen is a real find. Simply incredible food with a relaxed and friendly vibe.  Their Tuesday night ‘locals’ dinner is a closely held secret delight!

6. Bushwalking and Nature Trails

The natural beauty surrounding Berry is best explored on foot. The Drawing Room Rocks Walk is a popular trail, offering spectacular views of the coastline and hinterland. Another great option is the Barren Grounds Nature Reserve, home to diverse flora and fauna and numerous walking tracks suitable for all levels of fitness, or a wander at Black Head, Gerroa – to blast away the cobwebs with a gulp of fresh sea air!

7. Arts and Crafts

Berry has a thriving arts scene, with several galleries and workshops where visitors can appreciate and purchase local art. Participating in a local craft workshop can be enormous fun, offering the chance to create something unique to take home.
Why not pop into Co.LAB a beautifully curated retail store, featuring handmade and ethical products by a collective of over 30 local South Coast designers and artisans. Or, if you’re feeling particularly artistic – why not hop on one of Appleye Jewellery Studios ring making workshops, or book in with David Collins for a pottery experience.

8. Shop Til You Drop!

Berry is packed with beautiful, unique mostly locally owned and operated stores stocking everything from home-wares and furniture, fashion and jewellery, antiques, art and crafts, books and music, plants and flowers, specialty foods and more.
