Murrays Beach, Booderee National Park – Great Sheltered Swimming Spot

Murrays Beach is protected by Bowen Island so it’s the perfect for swimming and snorkelling – often alongside resident turtles and blue gropers.  The shallow water is ideal for a dip after completing the Munyunga waraga dhugan walk.

‘Munyunga waraga dhugan’ means ‘white-bellied sea eagle’s home camp’ in the Dhurga language of the Wreck Bay Aboriginal people.  Take in panoramic views of Jervis Bay and check out the park’s sea birds, penguins, seals, dolphins and whales from Governor Head. The 5.4 kilometer walk starts at Murrays Beach car park – but is subject to Booderee National Park entry fees, which you can purchase from the Booderee National Park at the visitor’s centre.

Only an hour south of Mt Hay Retreat – the perfect spot for a little day trip.

Bawley Point, Shoalhaven

Bawley Point Guillotines

Bawley Point Guillotines – a truly challenging surf break

“Bawley Point guillotine” refers to Guillotines, a popular and challenging surf break located at Bawley Point on the South Coast of NSW. Known for its shallow, barrelling waves that break close to the rocks, it’s especially popular with bodyboarders and shortboarders and offers quite a spectacle in larger swells. Guillotines is one of the best-known breaks on the NSW South Coast, famed for shallow barrels that break onto the rocks that bracelet the southern headland. Stand on the headland at Bawley Point to check the swell, which ripples off Surf Beach like a wrinkled fold of blue fabric. Only then can you get a perspective on this pristine stretch of coastline. Spot resident stingrays at Bawley Point.
